Statistics show that about 90% of chess players are male, even among kids, but the Girls Inc Spring Break Camp is about to change that!
2013 Spring Break Camp will include an opportunity for girls to learn the game, enjoy the positive bonding of tournament play, and achieve the opportunity to be crowned the 2013 Girls Inc Chess Champion, and win prizes.
Chess is a powerful learning tool and Chess Camp cultivates the learning that helps girls in school, such as grasping math concepts more quickly and improving reading comprehension.
Chess Camp will help girls develop their decision making skills, critical thinking, problem-solving, and goal setting.
The ability to make good decisions is one of the greatest gifts we can give to our girls. They will learn to consider all their options before they make a move, a skill which will benefit them throughout their lives.
Plus, chess is fun! Experts from The Chess Center will teach chess daily, and the week will culminate with a great tournament and prizes. No prior experience is needed.
Spring Break Camp highlights also include a great field trip, sports, arts & crafts and reading.
Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks are also included. Girls Inc is conveniently located in Pinellas Park at 7700 61st St.
